Summer 2012: All-Day Sessions Available!

This summer, Millbrae Nursery School is offering FULL-DAY care! We will have a regular combined-age class from 9am-12noon, with Extended Care available from 8am-5:30pm. The 8-week session runs from June 25 – August 17, and you may enroll your child for 2-5 days per week.

Enrollment for current families only begins February 1 and for new families on March 1. Current families may also enroll for Fall beginning on February 1.

Winter Party!

Celebrate the holidays with us at our annual Winter Party, this Saturday, December 17 at 10am.

The festivities begin at 10am, with crafts, stories, songs and food. And, at 11am … Santa is coming!

Please sign up in your child’s classroom with the number of people who will be attending and the potluck dish you will bring to share. This is a fun, festive, warm celebration of our MNS community at this special time of year. Please join us!

Maintenance Day, Families K-Z

If you are scheduled to attend the Maintenance Work Day on Saturday, December 10 from 9am-1pm (families with last name K-Z), please take a look at this list of tasks to be completed. If you have tools that may help, please bring them along. Also, work gloves are very helpful, too. Please label everything you bring with you. Come on time, sign in, and choose your task. When you’ve completed your task, talk to Jason Thomas and choose another task from the list. You will be billed for any missed hours.

Maintenance to-do list:

• Set the oven to self-clean (this may take up to 4hours so PLEASE start at 9am) be prepared for the smoke alarm to go off due to the debris in oven cleaning process.
• Install the First Alert smoke & carbon monoxide alarm in front hall in replacement of the old one on ceiling.
• Break down broken dome in horse swing area(make sure when you break it down save the good pieces for replacement pieces) haul away broken pieces to the dump
• Check the brackets on the Spider web (rope climbing area) outside(make sure they are secure)
• In the outside playhouse the kitchen set needs to be glued.
• Check sprinklers in the backyard and make sure that they are going/aimed to the right areas
• Check the sprinklers in the front (one is broken please fix it)
• The Steps going up to the fort have rough cement and hurts the kids’ legs please smooth down the cement on these steps.
• Put gutter covers on the Playhouse gutters in back yard.
• Fix the gutters on the side of the 2yr old class put on the covers and the extension.
• Put up the family tiles in front of the school in designated slot.
• 2yr old bathroom (the right toilet keeps running please fix so it stops)
• The attic stairs bracket is bent; the left side metal bracket is bent and stops the stairs from lowering. please fix them (in order to open the attic you need to pull out the left side bar with a stick when you are opening it so stair door will fully open )
• Clean and then Seal the glider on the outside deck ramp
• Clean, Sand & Seal the benches in the front and in the back yard. Please check the bolts and make sure that it is tight and secure.
• Add sand to the sand box, sand is kept in barrel in the chicken coop area.
• Back door handle in the paint kitchen area needs to be tightened and adjusted.
• Check straps on the triangles, outside climbing area, make sure that the pieces are secure, if they are not replace the straps. PLEASE make sure the cut end of the strap is not facing out where a child can cut themselves climbing, make sure it is tucked into the hole of the strap.
• Paint any triangles that are looking faded and worn. Use outside paint from shed.
• Play oven in the 2yr old class (the door in the oven needs to be fixed).
• Play sink the 2yr class needs to be painted. LIGHT BLUE {if you are painting this piece make sure that you wash it down, sand it if needed, and then paint it, lay a matt/tarp down so that we do not get our carpet or floors dirty}
• Play bed in 2yr class needs to be painted. Dark & light blue combo {if you are painting this piece make sure that you wash it down, sand it if needed, and then paint it, lay a matt/tarp down so that we do not get our carpet or floors dirty}
• Puzzle table in the 2yr class needs to be SANDED and painted. DARK BLUE {if you are painting this piece make sure that you wash it down, sand it, and then paint it, lay a matt/tarp down so that we do not get our carpet or floors dirty}
• All paint brushes and tarps are in the back shed please make sure to clean and put everything back that was taken out.
• Make little hooks in all bathrooms for towel dispenser key(make sure that all are high enough that the kids will not be able to reach them)
• TIM = Check all lights in school and make sure that they don’t need to be changed if they do please change them.
• Wipe down ALL bathroom door knobs and doorknobs within the school
• At the end of the day MAKE sure that all the paint supplies are washed and put away.
• Do a Written paint inventory: what color, type, and how much we have.
• Empty Blue Trash cans on front side of school into the green compost bin. Clean out the blue containers and put back on the front side of school.
• Take the trash & debris from work party and on the side of the school to the dumps (this may be assigned to a person who arrived late or has to leave early) and has a truck

*Remove some of the dirt by the wooden gate of the chicken coop so it can be opened easier.
